IS KINDYGYM IMPORTANT?

It’s important to understand what kids can do and what skills are appropriate for this age.

By age 2, toddlers should be able to walk and run well. They might be able to kick a ball and jump in place with both feet.

By age 3, toddlers usually can balance briefly on one foot, kick a ball forward, throw a ball overhand, catch a ball with stiff arms, and pedal a tricycle.

At 4 and 5 years of age are learning to hop, skip, and jump forward, and are eager to show off how they can balance on one foot (for 5 seconds or longer), catch a ball, or do a somersault.

Preschoolers also might enjoy swimming, hiking, dancing, and riding a tricycle or bicycle with training wheels.

Even simple rules may be hard for them to understand, as any parent who has watched their child run the wrong way during a game knows, and we reinforce lining up and waiting our turn in the Kindy Rec and Kindy Fitnastics classes.
