KINDYGYM AUSTRALIA OWNER & FOUNDER
I started teaching gymnastics part time in 1980, after finishing Year 12 at Narrabeen Sports High. At school I excelled at most sports including swimming, athletics, basketball and cross country. I have always been hypnotized by the sport of gymnastics, and while teaching I could really see the benefits both physically and socially the sport gave the children. In 1989 I started teaching Kindygym , creating a program that was unique for preschoolers, incorporating the basic fundamentals of gymnastics, fine and gross motor skills, games, music and action songs.
When I first started teaching Kindygym I would load up the van with cylinders, wedges, portable bars, foam shapes, balls, cones and other hand apparatus, along with a cassette deck and music! Off I would go, to Seaforth, Manly, Cromer and Avalon. Classes were always fun, but the unpack & restack of the car wasn’t! My husband Mark and I realized the need for a fully set up gymnasium, and in 1994 we opened the first gym on the grounds of Narrabeen Sports High. 13 years in 2007 after that, we opened Pittwater Sports Centre, which remains our pride and joy, and provides fantastic facilities to the community.
Over the years we have fine tuned the Kindygym program, and cater for the different stages of development, from early walkers until the children reach school age. Each of our programs is unique and we believe the best in Australia.
Although I am qualified to teach and judge competitive gymnastics, my heart belongs to the kindy kids, sometimes I think I have more fun than the children! Kindygym Australia is my vision and passion, and I look forward to the future with a zillion new ideas and concepts for the well being of your preschooler child.
