TRAMPOLINES & SMALL CHILDREN – THE PROS & CONS.

The trampoline is a great apparatus, developing strength, endurance and coordination, if used correctly. And they are always the firm favourite in any class. However there are some drawbacks to using the much loved apparatus.

The majority of trampoline injuries occur when more than one person is jumping on the trampoline at a time. Usually the youngest and smallest are at higher risk of getting injured, with fractures, dislocations and sprains the most common injuries.

At our Centre the trampolines rules are clearly displayed and coaches will reinforce the 1 at a time rule . Also 2 of our 3 tramps are sunk into the floor, reducing the risk of injury, and all trampolines are sufficiently padded.

We strongly recommend you do NOT hold young babies and bounce, due to the development of their necks.

A thought for those with home trampolines, older children attempting somersaults and flips can also cause cervical spine injuries, resulting in permanent and devastating consequences.
